NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently made it pretty clear that he does not value the NFL preseason, suggesting that he would like to replace a preseason game with a regular season game and expand the season to 18 games. And one NFL player is not at all happy with that suggestion.
During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Roger Goodell expressed that he is “not a fan of the preseason” and does not think it’s necessary, compared to regular season games.
“I think we’re good at 17 now,” Goodell said. “But, listen, we’re looking at how we continue. I’m not a fan of the preseason.… The reality is, I’d rather replace a preseason game with a regular-season game any day. That’s just picking quality.
But New England Patriots center David Andrews definitely disagrees.

“With all due respect, you don’t need it cause you’re not suiting up and there’s a lot of veterans who don’t,” Andrews wrote on his Instagram Stories, in a screenshot captured by Mike Giardi. “But there’s a lot of young players and undrafted guys who need it to develop and prove they deserve a chance to play. But [heck], maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.”
We’ll have to see whether or not the NFL does ultimately make this change, but it’s pretty clear that Andrews would not agree with it.
