Earlier this offseason, legendary Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce announced his decision to retire for the NFL. This decision leaves Cam Jurgens as the team’s new starting center, and while he understands he has big shoes to fill, it sounds like he’s going to just try to be himself.
During a recent interview, Cam Jurgens made it clear that he is not going to try to be Jason Kelce as he steps into the next role, he’s just going to be the best version of himself that he possibly can be.
“At the end of the day, I just have to be myself,” Jurgens said according to Chris Franklin of NJ.com. “I’m not trying to be somebody’s replacement or somebody’s next person. I’m just trying to be myself and asking myself if I can be the best football player I can be, and wherever position they put me, that’s what I’m going to do. I’m not worried about anything besides what I can control, and I think that’s all I have to worry about at the end of the day.”
We’ll have to see how this season goes for Jurgens as he steps into the starting role for the first time.
