The New England Patriots are in need of a new quarterback after the struggles of Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe at the position last season. As a result, the team is widely expected to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. And on Thursday, they decided to meet a player they might select with that pick.
According to a report from NFL insider Albert Breer of SI.com, the New England Patriots decided to meet with Drake Maye ahead of his Pro Day.
“Patriots will meet with UNC QB Drake Maye ahead of his Pro Day this AM, per sources. Nine guys from New England in Chapel Hill today: Eliot Wolf, Jerod Mayo, Alex Van Pelt, Matt Groh, Pat Stewart, Alonzo Highsmith, TC McCartney, Ben McAdoo & Matt Evans (8 of 9 were also at LSU),” Breer said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The Patriots currently hold the No. 3 overall pick, behind the Chicago Bears at No. 1 and the Washington Commanders at No. 2. With both the Bears and the Commanders expected to select quarterbacks with the first two picks, the Patriots will likely have to wait and see which quarterbacks are available for them at No. 3.
We’ll have to see who that ends up being, but Maye is certainly a possibility.
