Last year, Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson missed the majority of the season after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. But it sounds like the Colts expect him back in time for spring practice, and they’re expecting big things from him after what he showed in limited action last season.
During an interview with reporters at the NFL’s annual league meetings on Monday, Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen revealed that he expects the young quarterback to return to the team in time for spring practice, and sent a clear message to him about what he’s expecting from him when he does return.
“I think he’ll be good to go for spring practice,” Steichen said according to Stephen Holder of ESPN. “Obviously, we’ve got to limit it and monitor it and don’t go overboard, but I can’t be more excited to get him back going again.
“His limited sample size that he had in those first five weeks were impressive. I mean, he made some plays that I’ve never seen guys make.”
The Colts selected Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and immediately made him their starting quarterback, but he was unable to finish the season after suffering the injury.
We’ll have to see if how Richardson bounces back this season.
