After five seasons with the New York Giants, superstar running back Saquon Barkley will be joining a new team this year after he signed with the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. But despite his departure, it sounds like Giants coach Brian Daboll is wishing him well – under one condition.

During a recent press conference, Brian Daboll addressed the recent departure of Saquon Barkley, making it clear that he wishes Barkley all the best in the future with his new team, as long as he’s not playing against the Giants.

“This is what it is every year in the NFL. You meet great people, whether it’s coaches, players, staff members, and unfortunately everybody doesn’t stick together the entire time, it’s not what it was 30, 40 years ago,” Daboll said according to Pro Football Talk. “I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for Saquon and all the players that went on to other places. It’s a special group when you’re going through an NFL season, you’ve got to go through ups and downs. . . . Wish him all the best except when he is playing the Giants.”

These comments from Daboll generated a lot of reactions on social media.

Obviously, Barkley will have to face the New York Giants twice next season after joining a division rival. We’ll have to see how those games go.
