The Cincinnati Bengals made a pretty significant addition to their roster this week as the team officially signed veteran defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins. And sounds like he offered no time in offering some blunt constructive criticism for his new head coach.
Sheldon Rankins faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals this season when his Houston Texans traveled to Cincinnati, and Rankins had one of the best and most dominant games of his entire career, totaling three sacks in the game officially – half the number of sacks he had the entire season.
In his introductory press conference after joining the Bengals this week, Rankins called out head coach Zac Taylor for not making adjustments to slow him down.
Rankins said the first thing he said to Zac Taylor in their initial conversation was "Why the fuck didn't you slide to me?" in reference to his 3-sack game at Paycor in November, one Rankins said should have been a 6-sack game.

“Rankins said the first thing he said to Zac Taylor in their initial conversation was ‘Why the [heck] didn’t you slide to me?’ in reference to his 3-sack game at Paycor in November, one Rankins said should have been a 6-sack game,” Bengals beat writer Jay Morrison said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Obviously, the Bengals will be hoping that Rankins can have some of those dominant performances for them this upcoming season instead of against them.
