You would expect Russell Wilson to be a little bit apprehensive about the Pittsburgh Steelers trading for former first-round pick and Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields just days after Wilson signed with the team, but it doesn’t sound like that’s how Wilson is approaching the situation at all.
Shortly after news broke that the Pittsburgh Steelers were acquiring Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears, Russell Wilson took to social media to express his support for his new teammate, making it clear that he is excited to share a position group with the former first-round pick out of Ohio State.
“Let’s get it @justnfields! QB room bout to be [fire]” Wilson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Wilson and Fields are both in similar situations after their previous teams decided to go in a different direction at quarterback, leaving them to have to prove themselves with a different team.
While both quarterbacks will likely be trying to compete for the starting spot this upcoming season, it doesn’t sound like there will be any apprehension or animosity between them as they approach that quarterback competition in the coming months.
We’ll have to see how it all shakes out.
