The Arizona Cardinals have made it very clear that they will be moving forward with Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback this season and beyond, but it sounds like the team is adding some veteran talent behind him on the depth chart.
According to a report from league insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Arizona Cardinals have added veteran quarterback Desmond Ridder to the roster by way of a trade with the Atlanta Falcons.
“Trade! The #Cardinals are trading WR Rondale Moore to the #Falcons for QB Desmond Ridder, per source,” Pelissero said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Ridder served as the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons for the majority of the 2023 season, but with the team adding former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins this week, the team no longer has a place for Ridder and has decided to deal him to the Cardinals in return for Rondale Moore.
Obviously, Ridder is not expected to compete for the starting job this offseason, but he is a capable backup with plenty of experience as a starter if Murray were ever to suffer an unfortunate injury that kept him sidelined.
