The Philadelphia Eagles made a big splash in free agency when they signed former New York Giants superstar running back Saquon Barkley to help bolster their roster. But it sounds like the team is suspected of a little foul play as part of that process.
According to a report from Dan Graziano of ESPN, the NFL is investigating whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles engaged in tampering during their negotiations and talks with Saquon Barkley.
“Per a league source, the NFL is looking into potential tampering by the Eagles and the Falcons related to the free-agent signings of Saquon Barkley and Kirk Cousins,” Graziano said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Graziano reports that the league is also investigating the Falcons for potential tampering with their signing of Kirk Cousins.
If a team is found to be guilty of tampering violations, they could face some stiff penalties from the league in the form of forfeited draft picks to the team that was the victim of the tampering. In the Eagles’ case, that could mean forfeiting draft picks to the New York Giants.
Obviously, that would be a brutal turn of events.
