The Las Vegas Raiders made it very clear that they intended to bring in at least one new quarterback this offseason as the team looks for its full-time starter, and it sure didn’t take them long to come to terms with one veteran option.
According to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Las Vegas Raiders have come to terms with veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew to a two-year deal.
“Compensation update: The #Raiders are signing QB Gardner Minshew to a two-year, $25 million deal that includes $15M fully guaranteed, per sources. Strong money for their potential 2024 starting QB,” Pelissero wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
So one year after helping lead the #Colts to the playoffs after an injury to rookie QB Anthony Richardson, Minshew gets a big raise to head to Las Vegas, which also has Aidan O'Connell … and still could draft a QB, too. https://t.co/IIv789rJa1

Mishew has started 37 games throughout his NFL career, including 13 games with the Indianapolis Colts last season. So he brings a veteran presence who will compete with Aidan O’Connell for the team’s starting quarterback role.
Obviously, this is some pretty significant news around the league, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
A raise for the potential starter in Las Vegas. But it'll be a real competition. https://t.co/6wwAr20kS9

Gardner Minshew to the Raiders!
This is what the Daniel Jones deal

Pretty sure I’ve said on radio hits all week he’s being overlooked for teams that need a bridge – including my beloved Raiders. https://t.co/jnrCIuCC9w

Oh he’s 100% beating O’Connell for the job with that money. Congrats on a bag https://t.co/olKatH2sUY

I get we all love Justin Fields. But the Raiders — who have the guy that called plays for Fields the last two years — chose to give Minshew $15M guaranteed over making a trade. What more do we need to know? https://t.co/QpsbSy5NSh

This is quite the "compete for a job" contract! https://t.co/sh98EhdIvG

Even after signing Minshew, it’s not immediately clear who the team’s starter will be this season or beyond. But Minshew certainly gives them options.
