After serving as a starting linebacker for the Ohio State Buckeyes this season, Tommy Eichenberg will not be reprising that role next season as he instead heads into the NFL Draft. But it sounds like he’ll be watching his former teammates with high expectations next season
During an interview at the NFL Combine last week, Tommy Eichenberg made it clear that he thinks Ohio State’s 2024 team is going to be extremely strong due to the many players who opted to return to school for one more season instead of entering the NFL Draft.
“Yeah they’re gonna be really really good and I was so happy to see all those guys come back, especially on the defense too,” Eichenberg said during an interview with CBS Sports’ Rick Spielman and Ryan Wilson at the combine.
While Ohio State’s offense figures to be stacked, Eichenberg is most excited about the defense.
“We call ourselves the ‘Mud Dogs’ from The Waterboy and so we’ve kind of built an identity of who we wanted to be and the standards we wanted to live up to. And the standards of great players like your brother that played there and the great defenses,” Eichenberg said referring to Ohio State legend Chris Spielman, the brother of Rick Spielman interviewing him.
We’ll have to see if Ohio State can live up to his high hopes.
