It appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in Russell Wilson, after all.
According to a report from Gery Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Russell Wilson is set to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers about potentially joining the team as there is mutual interest between the two sides.
“The Steelers are interested in signing Russell Wilson and are tentatively planning to meet with the former Denver Broncos quarterback before the official start of free agency next week, sources have told the Post-Gazette,” Dulac wrote on Thursday.
“Wilson, 35, has an interest in joining the Steelers, but he is already talking with at least one other team after the Broncos gave him permission to seek employment elsewhere before they release him.”
Obviously, this is a pretty shocking turn of events given that a report last week suggested that the Steelers were not interested in pursuing Wilson or any other top quarterback this offseason. As a result, the news got a lot of reactions on social media.
They fully believe in Kenny though🙄😂 https://t.co/lkXX2ihjHB

Jokes aside i think this is smart. If broncos are paying his salary so he’s cheap. if Kenny can’t beat him out you have your answer what you’re going aggressively after in next years draft. You also have a QB in Wilson who if wins the job brings more to the table than you’ve had… https://t.co/AjgHPDrBOW

Wilson has still not officially hit the free agent market, but the Broncos gave him permission to speak to other teams before the free agency period officially begins.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Steelers can work out a deal with Wilson.
