Earlier this week, the Denver Broncos officially decided to part ways with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson and gave him permission to talk to other teams before he officially becomes a free agent. And apparently, he’s set to meet with one potential suitor: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to a report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there is mutual interest between Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers and the two sides plan to meet next week to discuss a potential deal.
“The Steelers are interested in signing Russell Wilson and are tentatively planning to meet with the former Denver Broncos quarterback before the official start of free agency next week, sources have told the Post-Gazette,” Dulac wrote on Thursday.
“Wilson, 35, has an interest in joining the Steelers, but he is already talking with at least one other team after the Broncos gave him permission to seek employment elsewhere before they release him.”
The Steelers appear to be in need of help at the quarterback position after starter Kenny Pickett had an underwhelming performance during the 2023 season that ultimately resulted in the team starting Mason Rudolph in the playoffs in his place.
We’ll have to see what happens between the Steelers and Wilson.
