Ohio State Buckeyes superstar running back TreVeyon Henderson could have entered the 2024 NFL Draft where he likely would have been considered one of the top running backs in the entire draft pool. But instead, he decided to return to Ohio State for one more season. And he explained that decision a little bit this week.
During an interview session on Monday afternoon, TreVeyon Henderson opened up about why he ultimately decided to return to Ohio State for another season, making it clear that his faith played a big role in bringing him back to Columbus.
“Really just understanding God called me back here to do something bigger than football, and that’s to continue leading people to him and bring glory to his name,” Henderson said on Monday according to Eleven Warriors.
Henderson said that before Ohio State’s loss to the Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl, he was planning to enter the NFL Draft. But he says God changed his mind.
“I made that decision after the Missouri game,” Henderso said. “Before the Missouri game, I was actually leaning on leaving. I was praying on it, but God rescued me in that decision. I am so thankful that he rescued me in that decision. Physically, I was ready to leave for the league but spiritually and in my relationship with the Lord, where I am at with him, I wasn’t ready.”
Henderson will now be considered one of the top returning running backs in college football heading into next season.
