There has been a lot of uncertainty regarding the future of star wide receiver Tee Higgins with the Cincinnati Bengals, given the team’s salary cap limitations, but it sounds like head coach Zac Taylor was never worried about whether or not the team would have Higgins back for the 2024 season.
During a press conference this week, Zac Taylor said that he was never worried about the possibility that Tee Higgins would not be with the team next season because he felt like the whole organization understood just how important he was to the team’s success.
“I wasn’t too stressed about not having Tee next year,” Taylor said during an appearance on PFT Live with Pro Football Talk. “Internally, when you have those conversations, there wasn’t a whole lot for me to stress about. He’s a huge part of what we do. He works his tail off to put himself in position to be where he’s at. So he needs to be a part of what we’re doing.”
Obviously, keeping Higgins next season will be easier than keeping him for the foreseeable future as the team will have to work out a long-term extension and balance his contract with Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow in terms of the salary cap. But it sounds like Taylor expects the team to figure all of that out.
