Players who make the Super Bowl rake in pretty hefty bonuses for playing in the big game with players from the winning team earning $164,000 each while players on the losing team will get $89,000. But even despite that, Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce claims that he will actually be losing money on this year’s Super Bowl.

During his appearance on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason, Travis Kelce was asked what he’s doing to prepare for the Super Bowl LVIII showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. The only thing he had to say was that he wasn’t happy with the amount of money it was going to cost him to get all of his friends and family into the game.

“I’m not really doing much different other than just counting how much money I’m spending on this [darn] Super Bowl for family and friends to come,” Kelce said on the podcast according to Yahoo Sports.

“Just making sure I’m on top of those finances and losing all this money,” Kelce continued.

The tickets for this year’s Super Bowl are notoriously expensive with Donna Kelce, Travis’ mother, explaining that she likely will not be sitting in a suite as a result of the high prices.

“You can understand that the boxes in Vegas are multimillion dollars, so I have a feeling I’m not in a box,” Donna Kelce said. “I have a feeling I’m in the stands, so far as I know I’m in the stands with everybody else because it is a pricey Super Bowl.”

Wherever she ends up sitting, it’s pretty clear that it wasn’t cheap.
