The San Francisco 49ers pulled off a huge comeback over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game to earn a spot in Super Bowl LVIII. But before that, several players on defense showed a clear lack of effort, and one 49ers player isn’t happy about it.
San Francisco 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson addressed the lack of effort in the game during a press conference this week, saying that the lack of effort was “magnified” because it happened in such a big and important game, but he made it clear that it is “unacceptable” for that to happen in any game.
“That film was hard,” Gipson said according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. “You had to see that and you had to hear some choice words, because that’s not our brand of football. We are a lot better football team than that. It’s nothing I’m worried about moving forward.”
The Niners will have to be ready to play hard from start to finish against the Kansas City Chiefs this week if they want to earn a Super Bowl Championship. The good news is, it sounds like the team has plenty of motivation to give full effort this time around.
