San Francisco 49ers superstars Nick Bosa and Brock Purdy took very different paths to the NFL with Bosa getting selected by the team as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and Purdy joining the team as the last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. And that led to Bosa asking Purdy a pretty significant question.
Following the team’s NFC Championship game win over the Detroit Lions, Nick Bosa asked his quarterback if he felt he would be this good in the NFL, admitting the shocking truth that he lacked confidence himself despite being the No. 2 overall pick.
“The fact that you are doing this blows my mind,” Bosa told Purdy, in a clip that aired on Inside the NFL, according to Pro Football Talk. “Did you think you’d be this good? How much confidence did you have? Because I was the second pick in the draft and I lacked confidence at times.”
Purdy didn’t answer the question directly, instead deciding to deflect by pointing out that there is always room for improvement.
“Honestly, I could do better, bro,” Purdy said.
While that may be true, Purdy has done nearly everything the team has asked of him through his first two seasons of his young career. And now he has a chance to lead the team to the Super Bowl.
