The San Francisco 49ers and Jim Harbaugh ultimately parted ways after four seasons together that included three NFC Championship appearances and one trip to the Super Bowl. But it sounds like the team is wishing him the best going forward as he takes over as the next head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.
During a recent interview with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic on “The TK Show,” San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York had a pretty clear message for Jim Harbaugh, saying that he thinks Harbaugh will be “very, very successful” with the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I congratulated them when they [Michigan] won the championship game,” York told Tim Kawakami according to Joel Soria of NBC Sports Bay Area. “ We’ve texted back and forth. I think Jim is a hell of a coach. I think it’s a great spot for him. I’m excited for the Chargers. I think they will be very, very successful.”
Obviously, the 49ers have had quite a lot of success without him and Harbaugh had plenty of success at Michigan after leaving the 49ers, so the parting of ways did seem to work out for both sides. We’ll see how Harbaugh does now that he’s with the Chargers.
