Even though Dak Prescott has not been able to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a deep postseason run, it sounds like the team has decided to remain committed to him as their starting quarterback.
During an interview at the Senior Bowl this week, team owner Jerry Jones made it clear that he has decided that Dak Prescott will remain the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys for the future.
“The thing I would emphasize more than anything is that Dak has room for improvement,” Jones said. “And not just the scheme around him, but Dak can improve. That’s a big plus when you’ve been playing the game (eight) years and by assessment have some room to get better in. He did this year. I expect him to do it next year and the next year.”
Jones reiterated that he has confidence in Prescott “going forward for many years.”
“Last year I said we see a picture of him going forward for many years,” Jones said. “That’s alive and well. Yes. We sure do. But we have a lot of contracts to address.
“Dak has done nothing to change my mind on any promise for the future. I think I said that we would go as far as Dak takes us in the playoffs. Remember that? We go as far as Dak takes us, and that’s how far we went. My point is, that doesn’t change a thing.”
Obviously, it’s pretty significant news that the Cowboys are seemingly committing to Prescott for the future, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
Question is “when are you going to improve as a GM?” #IHateItHere https://t.co/xeGMa7AVc7

At what point do you you have the conversation that Dak has reached his ceiling as a QB in the NFL? Because it’s year 9.. and I haven’t seen him take the next step against ELITE teams https://t.co/gDnKGR1W1E

It’s obviously a significant decision from the Cowboys. We’ll see how it plays out for them.
