As Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens prepare to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game this weekend, Jackson got pretty brutally honest about how he feels about his team taking on Mahomes.
During a press conference this week, Lamar Jackson was asked how he likes taking on Patrick Mahomes, and he had a pretty blunt response.
“I don’t like competing against him at all,” Jackson said with a laugh during his press conference according to Pro Football Talk, referencing how difficult Mahomes is to defend for his defense.
Still, Jackson made it clear that he is excited for what he expects to be a “heavyweight matchup.” And it’s clear that he has a lot of respect for Mahomes ahead of this weekend’s game.
“He’s a great quarterback,” Jackson said. “Definitely a Hall of Famer, it’s a no-brainer he’s definitely a Hall of Famer. I believe it’s just two greats, up-and-coming greats, going toe-to-toe like a heavyweight fight. Heavyweight matchup, that’s what I see.”
We’ll have to see which of the two elite quarterbacks is able to lead his team to victory and a Super Bowl berth over the weekend.
