This week, the Ohio State Buckeyes made a pretty significant move as they announced the hiring of former Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork to replace longtime athletic director Gene Smith, who is retiring from his position this year. And during his introductory press conference, Bjork had some things to say about Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.
During his Wednesday press conference, Ross Bjork said that he spent about an hour with Ryan Day on Monday and called the current Ohio State head coach “a brilliant mind if football” and a “high-level leader.” He also made it clear that he has faith in Day as the team’s head coach.
“I’m a football guy. I’m going to help, and make sure we compete at the highest level. Coach Day, he’s going to get it done. And it’s going to be a lot of fun when we win those championships,” Bjork said according to Cleveland.com.
It’s been a rough few seasons for the Buckeyes under Day as the team has failed to win a Big Ten title, beat rival Michigan, or win a national title in each of the past three years. We’ll have to see if that changes this year.
