On Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans made a somewhat shocking decision to part ways with head coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons with the team. And after the move, his longtime starting quarterback had some high praise for him.
Following the announcement that Mike Vrabel had been fired by the team, veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill offered some high praise for what Vrabel brings to a team as a head coach.
“He’s a heck of a coach obviously,” Tannehill told senior NFL reporter Albert Breer.
Ex-Titans coach Mike Vrabel hits the market with a 54-45 record, three playoff seasons, two division titles, an AFC title game appearance, and a Coach of the Year award on his resume.

“Learned a lot of ball from him. He educates the team in a way that I’ve never had any other coach do as far as the other side of the ball, teaching offense, teaching defense, situations, tape every week, things that come up throughout the week, nuanced rules that can be used to your advantage if you know the rules. He does a good job with all those different types of things. If they get the right people and players in place, I think they can have a lot of success here.”
Tannehill served as Vrabel’s starting quarterback for the vast majority of the games Vrabel coached with the team, helping lead the Titans to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2019 to 2021.
