PGA Tour superstar Rory McIlroy has long been one of the biggest critics of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. But with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf seemingly forming a sort of alliance in the near future, it sounds like McIlroy has changed his tune just a bit.

During a recent appearance on The Overlap’s “Stick to Football” show, Rory McIlroy claimed that he has “accepted reality” regarding LIV Golf and the impending alliance with the PGA Tour and even offered a little bit of praise for LIV Golf, saying that the Saudi-backed league “exposed some flaws in the system.”

“(The Tour is) asking sponsors for millions of dollars to sponsor these events, and you’re not able to guarantee those sponsors the players that are going to show up, it’s very hard,” McIlroy said according to Golf Week. “I can’t believe (the PGA Tour has) done so well for so long. So it’s actually exposed some flaws in the system that hopefully golf will have a look at.

“If we’re going to ask these people for so much money, we need to be able to guarantee them what they’re getting, and I think that was part of the stuff that we’ve been trying to do for the last two years to figure out how can we bring the thing back together again and learn from some of the things that have happened and some of the stuff that LIV has exposed.”

It sure seems like McIlroy is coming around to LIV Golf.
