Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has not had great luck supporting his favorite sports teams this year as the Houston Astros lost all five postseason games that Cruz attended last season, including their Game 7 loss to the Texas Rangers in the World Series. And it looks like that bad luck struck again on Monday night.
During Monday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal matchup between the Texas Longhorns and the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl, Ted Cruz was seen in the stands supporting the Longhorns while wearing burnt orange.
Given his recent bad luck attending sporting events, it seemed like it could be a bad omen for Texas.
welp sorry texas but it’s over for yall https://t.co/8kfN4YbryJ

As it turns out, it was a bad omen. The Longhorns fell to the Washington Huskies by a score of 37-31 after a late Quinn Ewers pass fell incomplete.
It was just another example of what appears to be a Ted Cruz curse, and the sports world had a lot to say about it on social media after the conclusion of the game.

If the engines fall off your plane and you see him up in first class make your calls to your loved ones because you and the whole team are going down https://t.co/moINVEK2ls

as in college football, getting enough points to win while in Iowa is not a significant predictor of national success https://t.co/eNG6HQEb0A

If I were in the hospital getting an appendectomy and saw this dude being rolled into the room next door I would yank the IV out and run. https://t.co/BwVDMDRISG

It’s looking more and more like the best thing Cruz could do to support his favorite sports teams is to simply stay home and no longer attend any other contests.
