The Ohio State Buckeyes were the top-ranked team in the College Football Playoff rankings once again this week, after a closer-than-expected win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday. But head coach Ryan Day does not sound too worried about where Ohio State is ranked right now.
During his press conference this week, Ryan Day made it clear that he and his team know and understand the rankings mean “absolutely nothing” right now.
“I think you have so many guys on our team that have just kind of been through all this before, and they know it means absolutely nothing,” Day said according to On3. “Their goal is to win the whole thing and to be the No. 1 team at the end of the year. We want to win them all, and that’s all that matters. At the end, they’ll rank us. But we’re just going to try and win them all, and it continues this Saturday.”
All in all, if Ohio State takes care of business on the field and wins the remainder of its games, they aren’t going to have to worry about where they’re ranked because they’ll be comfortably in the College Football Playoff field.
We’ll have to see how it all shakes out.
