Canadian professional powerlifter April Hutchinson has been outspoken in her criticism of transgender athletes participating in the sport, and it sounds like she is facing the possibility of a two-year suspension as a result.
On Tuesday, April Hutchinson revealed that she is facing a two-year suspension from the Canadian Powerlifting Union for criticizing the participating of transgender athletes in the sport.
“BREAKING: I now face a 2-year ban by the CPU for speaking publicly about the unfairness of biological males being allowed to taunt female competitors & loot their winnings. Apparently, I have failed in my gender-role duties as ‘supporting actress’ in the horror show that is my #sport right now. Naturally, the CPU deemed MY written (private) complaint of the male bullying to be ‘frivolous and vexatious,'” Hutchinson said in a post on social media

Hutchinson shared a letter from the CPU where the organization claimed evidence of multiple violations to the Code of Conduct and Social Media policy.
“Upon discussing the current case, the panel had determined that there was sufficient evidence to support sanctions as a result of multiple violations of both Code of Conduct and the Social Media policy. It has been determined that there is sufficient evidence for Major Infraction as a result of repeating offences, including prior warnings,” the letter shared by Hutchinson says while recommending a two-year suspension for her actions.
The news led to a lot of reactions from the social media world.

To the women that have the courage to stand up for their right to have a sport for themselves, April is an inspiration. If you stand together they can not attack all of you.#CPUhatesWomen #SaveWomensSports https://t.co/mYFqMlMlly

Incredible. Punishing a woman, a female champion, for opposing males in her competition! https://t.co/CIdgzq9xHQ

This is absolutely absurd. A 2 year ban for voicing her opinion. The world is absolutely gone insane. https://t.co/eeKnWCgrt6

This is shocking news @Lea_Christina4 !
Who knew that we would arrive at a time in history where a female athlete’s pleas for fairness are deemed deserving of a punishment equivalent to a doping infraction.#CPUhatesWomen#SaveWomensSports #Justice4FemaleAthletes https://t.co/vERpUHWGrF— International Consortium on Female Sport (ICFS) (@ICFSport) November 7, 2023

It’s safe to say that people don’t agree with the move.
