Last week, the Michigan Wolverines became the betting favorite to win the national championship this season. That same week, the Wolverines learned that they were part of an NCAA investigation into an alleged widespread cheating scandal. And as one college football expert explains, that’s led to a pretty brutal situation within the program.
During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, college football expert and insider Bruce Feldman explained why he believes there is so much “angst” within the Michigan football program regarding the current NCAA investigation.
“I think there’s a lot of angst right now inside Michigan, because you have this team that is a great team, with all these veteran leaders that have come back. They have dominated everybody they have played,” Feldman said according to On3. “And yet, this is now going to hang over the rest of the season, because there’s a lot of, what seems to be [condemning] evidence, that is mounting about signal stealing, that goes into the category of advance scouting.”
It’s certainly not a situation Michigan wanted to be in while in the midst of one of their most successful seasons in recent memory. It will be interesting to see how they handle it.
