It’s no real secret that former United States President Donald Trump is against allowing transgender women and girls to compete in sports leagues that align with their gender identity, but during a speech this week, Trump went a step further and announced plans to keep all of what he calls “transgender insanity” out of schools.

This week, Donald Trump gave a campaign speech in Ottumwa, Iowa where he announced that if he is elected president in 2024, he plans to “cut federal funding” to any school in the country that he believes is pushing what he calls “transgender insanity.”

“On day one, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children,” Trump said in the speech.

Trump also made it clear that he wants to get rid of the Department of Education to give more power back to the states to make those decisions. More than 20 states have moved forward with banning transgender athletes, but the Joe Biden administration has made it clear that it would like transgender athletes to be protected federally.

“Just so you know, I am going to terminate the Department of Education – move education back to the states,” Trump said. “So, Iowa can run their own education. Many states will do a phenomenal job.”

This is a pretty bold announcement from Trump, and it led to many reactions on social media.

But first, Trump would have to beat Biden in the 2024 campaign.
