Former Georgia college football star and Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate Herschel Walker has been off the radar since he lost in last year’s election.
Now, the Bulldogs legend is going back to school.
According to Greg Bluestein of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Walker has re-enrolled at the University of Georgia to finish earning his college degree “as he retreats from the public spotlight following his humbling defeat.”
The university confirmed that Walker is currently taking summer courses and he was recently seen at an academic adviser’s office.
Walker faced off against incumbent Democratic Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock in an extremely bitter and ugly election battle during the 2022 midterm cycle. After things went to a runoff in December, Warnock claimed victory after Walker racked up controversies, scandals, and other distracting dramas.
Walker initially claimed to have graduated from the University of Georgia after he left after his junior season to play in the NFL, even going as far as to say that he graduated in the top 1% of his class. However, he later walked back that claim, one of many he had to change his tune on.
With the news that Walker is returning to school to finally get his degree, there were a lot of reactions from the sports world.

Hey, you know what, regardless of politics, I welcome him back on campus. I always appreciate when student athletes come back to finish their degree. I have a close friend who is 53 years old, who just finished her undergraduate degree at @MissouriState this spring. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 https://t.co/n5sMrzc1M7
