The New York Giants quarterback situation is a mess that just got messier. Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com reports QB Kyle Lauletta was arrested on Tuesday morning for nearly striking a police officer on his way to the Giants practice facility.

Dunleavy reports the 23-year-old was trying to make a turn into the wrong lane on Route 495 when a traffic cop urged him to keep going straight. Lauletta turned right and allegedly nearly hit the officer with his car. According to Dunleavy’s sources, Lauletta made the same traffic move on Monday without getting stopped.
Getting arrested during a bye week is one thing. Getting arrested when fans are calling for you to start over a franchise quarterback? Yikes. The 1-7 Giants had multiple reasons to turn to the rookie QB over Eli Manning. However, with this arrest, you got to think that possibility is erased for now.
It’ll be interesting to see how the arrest affects Lauletta’s future with the Giants. At the very least, he’ll face a possible suspension from the NFL.
