Drew Brees is “cash poor” according to the jeweler who is getting sued by the New Orleans Saints quarterback.
TMZ reports Vahid Moradi called out the future Hall of Famer in court documents who alleged the jeweler ripped him off in multiple transactions, like selling him an “$8 million 4.09 carat blue diamond” worth only $4 million. Moradi clapped back claiming Brees didn’t have cash and threatened to ruin his reputation.
Per TMZ:
He also claims Brees — who’s made more than $194 MILLION in his NFL career — admitted he was “cash poor” and was “in need of immediate cash.”
The jeweler believes Drew was acting “irrationally” when he made the threats out of fear he wouldn’t be able to recoup the cash from the jewelry he had originally purchased from Moradi.
I don’t think its necessarily fair to dig into someone’s personal expenses, but if Drew Brees doesn’t have cash after making nearly $200 million in his career, he’s got a huge spending problem. Investing in diamonds clearly wasn’t a great strategy. Whether the jeweler is culpable is a different story altogether, but the case should spring further interesting details about the QB’s financial investments.
