Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson is known to play on the edge in most hockey games. Throwing a hit here and there that may draw the ire of opposing teams’ fans.
Already in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has taken out Columbus Blue Jackets’ forward Alexander Wennberg and Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Zach Aston-Reese.
He decided to add to his collection when he threw a massive hit on Vegas Golden Knights’ forward Jonathan Marchessault. You can see from the play itself that Marchessault is shaken up. The puck seems to have already left his stick when Wilson threw the hit.

It may seem worse than it actually is because it is both a blindside hit and the fact that Wilson threw the hit itself. It doesn’t change the fact that the first game of the series from the Capitals and Golden Knights is turning into a classic. Wilson’s questionable play is another storyline in a long line of them.
