A Facebook post from Todd Wilson directed towards Nashville Predators defenseman P.K. Subban cost him his job in less than 24 hours.
Wilson – the president of the Winnipeg Rifles of the Canadian Junior Football League was forced to resign after making a classless joke on Facebook. Wilson called a black beer vendor at the Winnipeg Jets game “P.K. Subban.”
So this is about as classless as you can get- what a prick! pic.twitter.com/lCGlFxYlwM

Wilson released a statement apologizing for the post, calling it a “rather poor attempt” at humor.
“Last night I added a post while at a hockey game. It appears that some people interpreted the post as something other than it was intended. Following the game, I immediately removed the post. For anyone that felt offended, it was certainly not intended that way, but rather a poor attempt at humour. I sincerely apologize for the post and please understand that my comments do not represent any of the organizations that I volunteer with.”
Racist comments like the one Wilson made (with or without intentional malice) are unacceptable, especially for someone in a position of power within a sports organization. Thankfully, Wilson immediately apologized and resigned. Next time he wants to post edgy, racist comments on Facebook for everyone to see, and play them off as jokes, maybe he should remember that his words have actions. In this case, it led to him rightfully being forced to resign. Good riddance.
