Daniel, Henrik Sedin get massive standing ovation in first game after retirement announcement

Daniel and Henrik Sedin’s career is nearing an end after announcing their pending retirement this week, so appropriately, the legendary Vancouver Canucks’ forwards got an incredible ovation in their second last game in Van City.

In Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to the Golden Knights, instead of heading to the dressing room after a shootout loss, the Sedin’s were greeted with a standing ovation and a personal goodbye from every Vegas player. It was an incredible moment.

It’s awesome and something we would have seen much more of had the Sedin’s announced their retirement much earlier. But, the duo clearly didn’t want a season-long farewell tour, so this will do.

It’s never been about the headlines for Daniel and Henrik, it’s been about doing what’s right.

The Sedin’s mean so much to not only Vancouver and the Canucks organization, but to the league as a whole. Both are future Hall of Famers, so it’s great to see them get so much love as their career reaches the finishing line.

If this was any indication, their last game in Vancouver is going to be a tear-jerker.
