Take a look at the two below car commercials. The first is an ad for the 2012 Audi Ag and the second is a commercial for the Chrysler 200 which ran during the Super Bowl this year. Yes, you are not going crazy, the two are nearly identical in more than a couple ways. So much similar that a suit has already been filed against Audi (filed by Eight Mile Style, who is responsible for licensing Eminem’s songs) for allegedly using Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” without permission. In my opinion, that is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of copyright infringement.
“It is absolutely shocking,” Joel Martin, manager of Eight Mile Style, said in a statement. “We believe Audi not only used ‘Lose Yourself’ to sell their product without permission, but their spot actually feels inspired by elements of Chrysler’s commercial campaign.”
What are your thoughts on this? Did Audi really get that lazy and steal this concept?
