Minnesota Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins has mostly toiled in Minnesota as the Timberwolves have tried and failed at becoming a top NBA club. After trading for Jimmy Butler this offseason, that may have changed. However, Adidas isn’t necessarily impressed with the potential surrounding Wiggins, with or without Butler in the fold.
In fact, his entire marketability is being put into question. They may eventually pursue an entirely different star at a rival company. Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is currently with Nike could be in their sights.
The brand had hoped that Timberwolves rising phenom Andrew Wiggins could fill that role, but internally there has been strong hesitation about whether Wiggins could carry his own signature shoe.
Antetokounmpo’s game is already more established and more accomplished, leading the company to look at making a massive offer that could steal him away from Nike.
The land of 10,000 lakes is going to be in for a show if the team ever does gel. It would mean big money for Wiggins.
As rumors continue to swirl around the young player, this can all be put to bed if he meets the lofty potential that has surrounded him since he came into the league. It is hard to question a player when they are performing to the best of their abilities.
No more excuses now.
