Wilt Chamberlain is arguably the most dominant player in not only the history of basketball but the history of any team sport. Although he had already crafted a unreal legacy as a youngster the University of Kansas and in just two seasons with the Philadelphia Warriors, Chamberlain firmly established himself as an unstoppable force with his 100-point game on March 2, 1962.
During Philly’s 163-147 win over the Knicks, the big man shot 36-for-63 from the floor and 28-for-32 from the free throw line in 48 minutes. He demolished the previous league points record of 78, set by himself three months earlier, and it was the final of four straight games with 60-plus points. He would finish the 1961-62 season averaging a mind-boggling 50.4 points and 25.7 rebounds.
