On Wednesday, retired tennis star James Blake was waiting outside of New York City’s Grand Hyatt Hotel when he was suddenly tackled, held down and arrested by a plainclothes officer who was a part of a sting operation that was being conducted by the NYPD.
Blake was headed to the U.S. Open but the police didn’t release him for five to ten minutes until they realized that they had nabbed the wrong man.
On Friday, the NYPD released footage of the wrongful arrest which can be viewed above.
Blake suffered a cut to his left elbow bruises to his left leg according to a report by the New York Daily News.
New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton has started an internal investigation into what transpired on Wednesday.
