During Thursday night’s preseason game between the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers, former Ruby star and preseason sensation Jarryd Hayne received a routine short pass in the backfield and barreled forward with all the speed and strength of a finely-tuned freight train.
Following his blocks, Hayne made his way towards the sideline where the Chargers’ Lowell Rose stood ready to make a tackle. Unfortunately for Rose, Hayne had other ideas as the Niners player absolutely demolished Rose before casually walking back to the huddle.
Plays like this encapsulate why Hayne has a strong argument for making an NFL roster. According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, Hayne has rushed for 175 yards during the preseason, good enough for second in the NFL behind the Detroit Lions’ Zach Zenner.
