The Phillies are the worst team in baseball. But if you don’t get the chance to see them play all that often, they did something Wednesday night that will sum up their entire season for you.
Mets infielder Ruben Tejada slapped a ball down the right field line toward Dominic Brown, and that’s when chaos ensued. Brown failed to make a running catch and fell face first over the wall and in to the stands as the ball landed in fair territory. The embarrassing mistake allowed Tejada to get one of the easiest inside-the-park homers you’ll ever see.
And that, folks, is why the Phillies are 53-81.
