Wilmer Flores made a spectacular play Monday night against the Phillies.
The Mets were in the shift with Ryan Howard at the plate, and Howard hit what appeared to be a line out on a stellar diving grab by Flores. He dropped the ball, however, and Howard was already heading in the dugout before he realized Flores didn’t make the catch. He was then thrown out at first base on what was a truly wacky, embarrassing play.
Flores also hit two homers, doubled, and drove in five in his team’s 16-7 win, so not a bad night for the kid.
