Adidas has enjoyed a fair bit of success with its ZX Flux model and the brand has enlisted the help of Cubs rookie star Kris Bryant to promote its new Champs exclusive colorway which is literally called (the very sneakerhead and hypebeast friendly name) “Fire”.
Of course, a sneaker with the name “Fire” is going to feature actual fire. In the spot, Bryant sets letters spelling out “ego,” an inside-out baseball cap that represents superstition, and a bunch of mannequins that have “hater” scrawled along their chests on fire to symbolize Bryant’s purging of those things from his mind and game or something. It’s more or less an excuse to see Bryant throw a fire bat at a symbolic pyre in slow motion.
To be fair, the sneaker looks pretty great and it fits right in line with the inventive prints that Adidas has made for the ZX Flux. The kicks are available now at Champs.
