ESPN has been the overwhelming giant in the sports media industry for decades and although most young sports fans don’t remember a world without their flagship program, SportsCenter, it wasn’t too long ago that some folks were skeptical of the new show.
Thirty-six years ago, before the likes of Chris Berman, Scott Van Pelt, Jay Harris and others became SportsCenter staples, George Brande, a current part-time broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds, was the very first host of the show. For the older nostalgic crowd, enjoy a trip back in history. For younger fans, please appreciate what modern technology has brought to the sports world so you don’t ever have to receive such dry, non-video driven coverage:
