Tom Whatley is really using his time wisely (INSERT GIANT FART NOISE). The Republican state senator from Auburn apparently has nothing better to do than push for additional national titles for the Auburn football program.
The Tigers claim only two national championships (1957 and 2010) but apparently could claim at least seven more, including their 13-0 season in 2004 that concluded with a Sugar Bowl victory. Claimed and unclaimed titles are one of the more pointless things in college sports, as the level of ambiguity is through the roof and true meaning is non-existent. And although players and coaches on teams that could claim a title would likely appreciate the recognition, it’s a borderline pointless and unbearable debate, but one that apparently Whatley (above, left) wants to have…on government time…while wasting government funds.
Oh God: Senate resolution urging Auburn to claim nine national championships in football introduced. #alpolitics

The passion for college football is fantastic but it’s a pathetic waste of time that could be spent doing something that actually matters in your state.
