On Thursday, Dota 2 team Virtus.Pro pulled off a huge upset by beating heavy tournament favorites Team Secret and knocking them out of the video game’s biggest tournament, The International.
The victory would have been sweet enough on its own because it ensures that Virtus.Pro will collect at least $1,184,768 for their play at the $18 million tournament but Virtus.Pro player FNG (aka Artsiom Barshak) divulged some news immediately following the match that has to make Virtus.Pro’s win all the more amazing.
Apparently, Barshak made a deal with his girlfriend before the elimination match with Team Secret to marry her if Virtus.Pro managed to beat the team that most fans and analysts had picked to win the whole International. Now, it seems that he’s sticking to his word.
I had a deal with my gf if I win team secret I get married. GGWP.
