Rick Spielman gave up his attempt at a professional football career over 25 years ago but the former Southern Illinois linebacker did not give up sculpting his body as if he could step onto the playing field at moment’s notice.
The Minnesota Vikings general manager might not have as much NFL playing experience, having only been invited to a handful of training camps in the late 1980s before entering personnel departments, but he definitely looks the part of a former player, like many current general managers are. He is being lauded for rebuilding a depressing franchise but he should really be lauded for his work in the weight room.
