In a tragedy which is hard to comprehend, Phil Walsh, the coach of the Australian Football League’s Adelaide Crows, was stabbed to death at his home on Friday according to South Australia police officials. Phil’s son has been charged with stabbing his father after a domestic dispute and has already been charged with murder.
“There’s been an argument, I can’t tell you anything about the argument… but as a result of that both Mr Walsh and his wife received a wound and the wound ultimately caused Mr Walsh’s death,” a South Australia detective told reporters.
Australia is known as a sports-loving nation but Australian Rules’ fans love the game and their clubs like no other.
Aussie Rules, as it is known here, attracts bigger crowds than any other sport in the country, and it’s got the nation’s biggest stadium, the much-loved Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Aussie Rules community is already starting to show an amazing of support and honor for Phil who was a legend in the league. One of those tributes happened following the Collingwood FC and Hawthorn FC match as both teams met in the middle of the pitch and interlocked arms in a great show of unity. Our prayers go out to to the Aussie Rules community and the Walsh family during this time.
