Note: It was determined that Joel Embiid’s reaction came to the Los Angeles Lakers selecting D’Angelo Russell with the No. 2 pick, not to the Sixers’ selection of Jahlil Okafor.
The Philadelphia 76ers took Duke big man Jahlil Okafor with the third overall pick in Thursday night’s NBA Draft and although the reactions were mostly positive, one amusing reaction came from the team’s No. 3 overall pick last year. Joel Embiid was taken in the same slot one year ago, but did not play one game during the 2014-15 season.
After dominating Twitter last offseason, he remained relatively quiet during the NBA season and largely became an NBA afterthought. He once again made waves on Twitter on Thursday night with a hilarious reaction to Philly taking another big man with him and 2013 top overall pick Nerlens Noel on the roster:
