If you are a Los Angeles Lakers fan, Chick Hearn should hold a very special part in your life and for good reason. As radio voice and play-by-play announcer the Lakers for so many years, it was hard not to fall in love with Chick’s sayings and smooth voice. Hearn was well deserved of being the third broadcaster to be inducted into Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Well, thanks to YouTube account “ABlastFromThePast‘ you can now check out a few Lakers games with Hearn’s radio call dubbed over the original NBC TV broadcast. The result is fairly wonderful.
“This game’s in the refrigerator: the door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter’s getting hard, and the Jell-O’s jigglin’!”
Check out the videos below, and try not to become nostalgic.
